To the organisers of Jack the Ripper walks

I attended one of your walks on Saturday the 19th of November 2011 with my sister and i just had to write to you to tell you how brilliant we thought the walk was.

I spent the weekend in London and off all the eventful activities i did that weekend the Jack the Ripper walk was definitely the highlight of the weekend.

I must apologise as i have forgot the guides name but he was brilliant, he told the story brilliantly and made it very easy to imagine the area in the year of Jack the Ripper and he answered all the groups questions as well as making a few jokes and lightening the mood, he also had a very good knowledge of the area and its history which was very interesting.

I would definitely recommend your tour to any of my friends or family who go to London and i have already been telling my friends at work how much i enjoyed it and i would really like to go again next time i get chance to go to London.

Thank you again for a brilliant and interesting tour and for making my weekend in London even more fantastic.

Regards

Zoe Wood

Dear Discovery

I just wanted to say that our guide, Alan, was absolutely superb on Monday 7th November 2011.

He was flexible in our needs and pitched it perfectly for our pupils.

Combined with Philip last year we have had two excellent experiences with your Ripper walks.

Many thanks

Good morning Jack the Rippers tours.

Thanks so much for Saturday night [November 5th 2011] and for the way we were guided through the streets of Whitechapel and its grim and gloomy history.

Alan our Guide was fantastic, even with his cold, and thanks for making it damp, dark and chilly, that was great, but a bit of mist would really have set the scene.

It was a good history lesson with intrigue and leaving questions unanswered.

Well done and thanks.

Hi,

I'm writing to say how much my partner and I enjoyed your Jack the Ripper tour on Friday 28th October 2011.

The route that the tour took couldn't have been better and the size of the group was very sensibly arranged.

Despite being a regular visitor to London throughout my life, this was the first time I had ever been able to so deeply imagine life as it may have been back in the 1880's.

Special mention and thanks must go to our guide Warren who was perfect for the event. He is a very knowledgeable, interesting and friendly gent indeed.

George Hilton

Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed last Thursday's Jack the Ripper Tour [27th October 2011].

Our guide was very knowledgeable and enhanced our experience.

Would you please pass on our grateful thanks to him.

Kim and Steve Smith

Hi

I just wanted to pop you a quick email to say a massive "Thank You" for our tour last night.

You've provoked quite a lot of discussion in our office this morning, those of us who were there haven’t stopped talking about it and those that couldn't make it are now rather gutted!

You were a great Tour Guide and we all loved the walk.

Thanks so much!!!

To whom it may concern,

I wanted to email you on behalf of the small group (five people) I booked on to the Jack the Ripper tour on Friday 14th October 2011.

We found the tour really interesting and excellent value for money.

This really was down to the tour guide, Jenny (I didn't get her surname), who not only had huge enthusiasm for the subject but also remarkably impressive depth of knowledge on the subject.

However, it was the way this information was passed on to us that made it such a good tour.

Please pass on our thanks to Jenny.

Kind regards,

Clare Hilary Alder

Hi Joanne,

I wanted to pass on a big thank you to our for the Jack the Ripper Tour she gave me and my tax team last week.

She was absolutely fabulous and everyone really enjoyed it.

She is a knowledge expert and that really showed, I could honestly say that I would of loved another hour listening to the stories and history of East London at that time.

I had a brilliant time,

Thank you again,

Angela

Hi Joanne

Thank you very much to our tour guides on Friday 16th September 2011 and for all if your help.

The pupils thoroughly enjoyed their tours and got a lot out of it.

I have had already had a number of pupils come up to me with their new theories based on what they learnt on Friday which is fantastic!

Kind regards

Hi there

We promised to post a review of the guided tour we attended today July 28th 2011 (not sure this is the right channel to do so) and wish to let you know that we were very happy with the meeting up (although we were 3 minutes late).

the lady who supervised the whole walk was VERY proffesional and informative.

We will try and find ways to recommended your superior guidetour as good as we can but please let us know by link where we can recommended you - but for now it was worth every pound - THANK YOU and we will come back.

Hi Joanne,

Well back home I'd like to thank you for helping me with our Jack-walk on Friday the 9th of September 2011!

I'd like to tell you that we were VERY pleased with our guide.

He did a wonderful job and he really caught the students' attention - they talked a lot about it back home at the hotel!

Would you please let him know...Thank you!

Hi

I just wanted to send a quick note to say how much we enjoyed the Jack the Ripper Walking Tour conducted by Anne-Marie on Saturday evening 12 March 2011.

Our group was made up of about 30 women (and 2 men) from 6 different countries across Europe and Anne-Marie spoke clearly and slowly so that she was understood easily by all of the participants who have varying degrees of English from excellent to just ok.

She was highly informative and obviously passionate about her subject.

We very much enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to others.

Also I would like to add that the customer service I received when booking the tour was highly professional and extremely friendly.

Thanks so much once again

Dear Joanne,

Thanks for making this walk possible on 6th March 2011.

John, our tour guide, was really fantastic.

My students also enjoyed it very much, even though it was freezing outside.

I took the tour on Feb 23rd 2011 and had Lindsay as the guide.

The tour was great, she was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable that the time flew by.

I have recommended all my friends

Hi,

We booked a Jack the Ripper tour and it was fantastic, our guide knew everything there was to know about the subject and also lots of little history tit bits that you don't always read about.

We found some lovely little streets just off Brick Lane that had the original 1770's house and they were gorgeous, along with the original cobblestones.

I was born in London but ididn't know that these little gems still existed especailly in the East End so near to Brick Lane.

It was a very cold evening but the walk was so interesting that we really didn't notice it.

I really recommend this tour.

Hi

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Jack the Ripper Tour this weekend.

I was booked on for Friday 18th Feb 2011, and turned up on Saturday 19th Feb in error, which was on my part. There was no issue and your staff were most helpful and friendly in ensuring I did not miss out on the opportunity to experience the tour.

Our guide Warren was excellent and made the tour the most enjoyable experience.

I totally enjoyed the tour and wanted to email to let you know.

I have always been fasinated by the history of Jack the Ripper, and the tour made my mind go back to those days of utter horror and the terrible times of 1888.

Thank you for an enjoyable night, and well worth the bargain price of £8 for two hours of expert knowledge.

Please pass this feedback onto Warren.

Kind regards

Hi,

Myself and my friend went on the Jack the Ripper walk on Friday 18th Feb. Our tour guide was Lindsay Siviter, just wanted to pass on some very positive feedback.

I am a ripper enthusiast and I had a very enjoyable and fun night, my friend who has never been interested in the subject was hanging on Lindsay's every word and came away anxious to find out more.

Lindsay's knowledge on the ripper was very impressive and learning about her research.

She made the tour enjoyable and interesting, very well presented, would recommend to anyone, even someone who has never heard of Jack the Ripper before.

I wasnt expecting much for the money I paid, I think you are very under priced, you deserve more money, especially when your guide is Lindsay.

Thanks for a great night.

Hayley Walsh

Hi

On the weekend of February 11th this year we took a group of drama students aged between 14 and 18 to London on a theatre trip.

As part of the itinerary we took the girls on a 'Jack the Ripper' walking tour led by Adrian Gladwin.

I wanted to contact you to let you know how impressive a tour guide he was.

Firstly he came and met us on our coach and took us to the starting point of the tour.

He treated the girls with the utmost respect and made the tour extremely interesting and engaging. Our girls loved it.

They were fascinated and asked lots of questions.

Adrian was very considerate towards the girls taking on board that it was cold and late yet also keeping their interest up throughout. He had a wonderful rapport with them.

I would recommend anyone going to London to arrange a tour with Adrian.

It was definitely one of our highlights.

Many thanks

To whom this may concern,

I am just writing to you to let you know that I had a wonderful visit of the Jack the ripper crime scenes 2 days ago (25th Janury 2011).

I really appreciated the comments, the atmosphere...EVERYTHING!

I had already read some books about the case and was curious to find out about the places. My guide was very helpful and very passionate about the subject.

I just thought I would give you my feedback since I was really happy with my visit!

And by the way the fact that it is just £8 is really good as well!A big THANK YOU to you and the friendly guide!

Best Regards,

Hi Richard,

I am just emailing to let you know what a fantastic time I had on the tour on the 23rd January 2011.

Hi Richard/Joanne

I just wanted to email to say thank you so much to you both, and to John, for all of your help with organising the Jack the Ripper tour, as part of our company Christmas do last Friday (17th December 2010).

Everyone had a fantastic time and John was a brilliant guide. He conducted a most interesting and engaging tour.

Even the least social of our group, who didn't even want to come into London, said they loved the tour and would do it again.

Thank you!

Thanks also to Richard for helping me with the initial booking and giving me a guide to all the timings I needed to the coach to get us from one activity to the next. It worked a treat!

Smashing tour and would recommend it to anyone.

Quite interested in the television programme you did for January too. I understand it is on 12th January on Channel 5.

Many, many, many thanks

Hello Richard,

We had SUCH a fantastic time on our Jack the Ripper tour on 15th December 2010! We all had a super time even if the weather outlook wasn't great.

Even though it was raining and very cold, Alan made the whole tour, from beginning to end, absolutely brilliant.

His knowledge around the subject, enthusiasm and most excellent oratory skills worked together to produce a most fantastic experience one that was deeply enjoyable and extremely interesting.

I must also add that we even threw a few ‘curve-balls’ into the proceedings (demanding clients that we were) and Alan handled all with both agility and grace.

A real triumph! And we are all very pleased indeed!

Thank you so much,

Hello.

On Friday last, 3rd December 2010, my wife and I and a friend took part in your walk.

Despite the temperature we enjoyed it enormously - Richard was so entertaining that we completely forgot our cold feet!

We will most certainly be arranging our next trip to London around your future programme.

Kind regards,

Hi Richard,

I would just like to pass on our thanks for last nights Jack the Ripper Tour (1st December 2010), if you could please pass on our compliments to the guide who was extremely entertaining on a very cold evening.

Hi there.

Just wanted to say how much my girlfriend and I enjoyed the Jack the Ripper tour we took on Thursday 25th November 2010.

Our guide (Philip Hutchinson) was brilliant; we couldn't have asked for a better tour leader!

He was funny, engaging, knowledgeable, informative and witty and kept us all entertained for the entire duration of the walk (so much so that we completely forgot just how bitterly cold it was that evening) - I think we could have quite happily listened to him all night!

It was definitely well worth travelling all the way from Liverpool for, and we'd have no hesitation in recommending the tour to our friends both in London and nearer to us - it's definitely worth every penny of the ticket price!

Please thank Philip again for providing such an entertaining evening.

All the best,

Nathan Pace and Katherine Webb
Liverpool.

Dear Richard,

We thoroughly enjoyed the Jack the Ripper tour last night (16th November 2010).

Vicky Wood was absolutely amazing and was wonderful in answering the several questions that our group had!

Thank you!

Hi Richard,

Just a quick email to say thanks for the tour last night (November 9th 2010)

Our guide Alan was fantastic and really articulated the tour very well.

Cheers

I would just like to write on behalf of the Royal Holloway History Society to say that we had an absolutely fantastic time last night (November 1st 2010) on the Jack the Ripper Tour.

Our guide (Adrian Gladwin) was tremendously knowledgeable on the subject and engaging and exciting to listen to.

In fact, it turned out to be so popular that we already have lots of our members who came last night, and who couldn’t make it this time asking us to organise another one of the walks you offer for after Christmas (which we will be doing for sure!).

Your sincerely,

TobyWheeler

Dear Richard

I just want to tell you that we had a great experience the other night (Tuesday October 26th 2010), and that your two guides (Fiona Atherton and Alan Drake) made a great job telling our students about Jack the Ripper.

They spoke in a clear and understandable English, that most of our students understood.

This had been one of the worries for many of the student. But your guides made them listening and asking questions for almost two hours.

Very impressing, especially since they had had a busy day walking around in the city centre.

I will make sure to recommend your tour to other schools or people that I talk to about London.

Hi,

I went on a Jack the Ripper tour on Tuesday night (October 26th 2010) and my tour guide was John Bennett, I would just like to say that he was a fantastic guide and I would like to thank him from all of us who went.

It was an 18th birthday present for me and I had a fantastic time.

Could you please pass on my thanks to him.

Stephanie Hewlett.

We took the Jack the Ripper tour on Sunday evening (24th October 2010)and just wanted to say a big thank you to our guide Adrian Gladwin for an informative, very interesting and certainly entertaining 2 and a bit hours.

We couldn't stop to thank him in person on the night as it was bitterly cold and we had to get back for another engagement.

Hope he found his journey home less stressful than the one into Whitechapel on that day.

The tour certainly provided us with lots to talk about and we'll definately be recommending it to friends who are London bound.

Thanks again Adrian

Please could I pass on thanks from our Group from last night (18th October 2010) to yourselves and especially to our guide, a great time was had by all!

Many thanks again for last nights experience,

Dear Joanne,

You may recall that I enquired regarding wheelchair suitability for my wife and here is some feedback that might help other future disabled customers.

We booked the tour for 2nd September 2010 and our tour guide who kindly kept an eye on us whenever possible to ensure that we did not lose touch with the tour group.

The tour (of course) takes you through old London streets therefore the difficulties that a wheelchair user encounters is mainly with the drop down kerbs and losing ground with the group. There is one particular pavement that has three or four successive drop down kerbs and we eventually adopted the method of walking in the road wherever possible along some very quiet streets although you do have to keep your wits about you for possible oncoming traffic.

The cobblestones at the start of the tour were impossible and we are fortunate that my wife has limited mobility and can get out of wheelchair to walk short distances, I would recommend perhaps a different joining point for any wheelchair user that tackles the tour. If you do decide to attempt the tour you do need to be physically fit to tackle the length of the walk although there are regular stops and to negotiate the kerbs, it is probably best to join a Summer tour when the daylight evenings allow you to avoid unevenness in the pavements and other potential pitfalls.

Certainly the tour is not beyond an accompanied wheelchair user because we managed and enjoyed it immensely also some members of our group kindly kept a watchful eye on us to ensure that we did not become detached which we appreciated very much.

Lindsay patiently waited for us on the odd few occasions whilst we negotiated a good position for the wheelchair and the tour was everything that we hoped it would be.

We had talked about doing the tour for many years and Lindsay brought the story to life with her knowledge of the case, particularly the lives of the poor and the victims in Victorian times. We were pleased that the story was handled compassionately and full credit to our guide for achieving this.

We now look forward to revisiting documentaries and programmes to see the areas where we trod and our two daughters are both planning to join the tour with their partners soon.

Our thanks to the guide for their help and consideration on the evening, we had a great time and hope that our feedback assists others contemplating the tour.

Best regards,

Martin and Poppy Ballard

Joanne,

just wanted to write and say a big thank you for our Jack The Ripper Walk yesterday. July 18th 2010.

Slight problem finding exit 4 at Aldgate but everyone made it in time and Jenny was great.

Very knowledgeable and although the area has been developed rather a bit the pictures helped set the scene.

It was all very well received by the group.

It is something we will consider doing again.

Thanks again and please pass on our comments to Jenny.

Best wishes

Hi There.

I would like to Thank you for a fantastic evening on the Ripper Tour on 15th July 2010 with my wife and two teenage children.

Both Children are very interested in History and we all found Her Tour extremely interesting.

I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to spend and evening getting a in depth look into this dreadful crime.

Thanks again.

Hello,

I took your Jack the Ripper tour yesterday evening [June 26th 2010] and wanted to write a quick note to tell you what a fabulous job your guide, Adrian, did.

He was incredibly knowledgeable, insightful, warm and witty.

I had expected a good tour, but he delivered a phenomenal one.

I will be sure to recommend your company to all friends and family of mine coming to England; they're in for a real treat.

Kudos to a job well done!!

Dear Friends at Jack the Ripper Walk,

Hello, my name is Chris Kullstroem. I was recently traveling throughout the UK and was lucky enough to go on one of your Jack the Ripper Walking Tours on May 5th 2010.

I am now in the process of writing a travel narrative of my adventures, and would like to ask your permission for talking about your tour in the book. The narrative is geared towards Halloween and horror enthusiasts, and tells them about the spooky and haunt-themed attractions and tours throughout the UK.

I will highly recommend your Jack the Ripper Walking Tour as the perfect way to spend an evening in London. Also with your permission, I would be very happy to include any images from your website to promote your tour in the book. As I've just returned to the States a few weeks ago, the narrative is now in the beginning stages and I'm hoping to have everything completed by early summer of 2011. Thanks so much, and please feel free to check out my website (if you dare...) for my other monstrous publications at www.monstersandbooks.com.

Hi Jack the Ripper Tour

We came on your tour last Sunday evening March 28th March 2010.

I just wanted to write to say firstly we, all of us, greatly enjoyed the tour [With John Bennett] and much appreciated the factual element unlike the rather exaggerated voices of other tour guides we overheard as we went round with yourselves.

We came away discussing the information given and pondering over how it all could have happened. It was suggested that we went on your tour by a friend of mine at my place of work, here in Macclesfield, as she is trying to organise a break in London and wants to go on your tour, so I will be passing on tremendously positive feedback – thank you very much for such a good time.

Secondly, thank you for being so tactfully considerate over my son when he was obviously not keen to see some of the pictures. He said afterwards that he didn’t feel made a fuss of and that you made it very easy to cope with not seeing the photographs after he saw the first, without feeling that the rest of the group were looking at him.

He really enjoyed the tour and was talking all the way home about possible theories of how Jack the Ripper did it.

However he wasn’t upset when he talked and he concluded that Jack the Ripper had to be someone who knew where to look for the organs, and was someone every one was used to seeing about and was never given a second thought to – similar to magic tricks, illusions and the art of creating a diversion so you don’t see what is actually there. He also wished you were his History teacher!

So please don’t think automatically children of this age should be excluded.

We had a smashing time in London with my friend for three days, you really did provide quite the highlight to the visit and can you let me know how I can purchase a copy of your book? I didn’t get time to ask.

Kind regards

Jayne (Ruth) Lewis

Hi Richard,

just a note to say thanks for Saturday night's walk, once again a truly fantastic evening.

This was our fifth journey with you and its just incredible the knowledge you have of the area.

I have no hesitation in recommending you to others who would like to hear stories of long ago, the dark and lonely alleyways and see the history that London offers.

I can't wait for our next adventure.

Many thanks

Hi there

Just a quick note to say many thanks to Jenny for her excellent tour last Monday evening [8th March 2010] – despite the frostbite we all enjoyed our evening and felt Jenny gave a really good idea of the history of the area and what life was like for the poor inhabitants in the 1880’s.

Thanks also for the sausage and mash recommendation.

A good time was had by all and would certainly recommend your company.

Kind regards

Celia Davies

I'd like to say how enjoyable the tour was on 1st March 2010. And very value for money. 7 pound for 1 hour 45 min. Beat that for value.

The knowledge of the guide was extensive.

Which combined with her good looks made the tour very very good.

Thank you.

Hello!

Attended Jack the ripper tour on a very wet 25th Feb 2010, despite the bad weather still enjoyed the night as the tour guide was excellent! Fantastic knowledge and understanding on the subject, also her vocals was very clear and precise.

I am very sorry for my ignorance but we forgot to ask her name so could you please advise so that we can add a customer testimonial to your website and also add her as a facebook friend, the only description we can give is that she had blonde hair.

Can you please advise also if this particular guide operates any other tours?

Thankyou!

Hello!

I went on the Jack the Ripper tour last Wednesday evening [17th February 2010] and had to rush off before thanking our guide (running late for dinner reservation!)

I just wanted to say I thought the tour was great - our guide was really knowledgeable and recreated the atmosphere of 1888 very effectively.

So thanks for a memorable evening!

Hello Joanne,

Just to let you know that the Jack the Ripper walk [January 28th 2010] was a great success!

Fiona was fantastic, and the young people really took to her.

It was a very cold night but she made the walk fascinating, and inspired them - and the adults - to find out more.

I'd certainly like to do the walk again.

Thank you once again,

Hi guys

I just wanted to say that the tour last Saturday [28th November 2009] was excellent.

I'm sorry, but I can't remember the name [Vicky Woods] of the lady who guided us (red umbrella, lol) but she knew her stuff.

No script and all the facts. Not confusingbut interesting.

A great gift for my brother in law.

We got our drink in the (crowded) Ten Bells, but not in the White Hart. Maybe another time.

It was a shame that the owners of the Ten Bells had taken down all of the Ripper displays that used to be up on display.

Just one very tiny criticism - and it is very, very minor. When the tours are split, would it be useful to tell the customers either their tour guide name or give them a group number, as there was a tiny amount of confusion at the start.

But seriously, that in no way spoiled our evening.

Thanks once again for a great walk that even the rain (very heavy) couldn't spoil.

It kind of added to the atmosphere.

Thank you again.

Mick Bond

Hi Joanne,

Just wanted to say thank you to the Jack the Ripper tour group for a fantastic night last week [13th November 2009].

The tour guide was excellent and really informative and my friend and I had a great time.

Shame about the constant drizzle but it did lend a very gloomy feel to the whole night.

Kindest regards,

Penny Wedesweiller

Hallo,

We did the Jack the Ripper Walk on Sunday night, Nov. 8th 2009 and I just wanted to tell you how pleased we were, all 5 of us.

The guide[Jenny Philips] was exceptional! Excellent explanation!

I would definately recomment your tour to any friend who visits London.

Thank You

Sincerely yours

Paul Rodwell

Dear Joanne

Thank you so for helping to organise our Jack the Ripper Tour on 4th November 2009 - also our sincere thanks go to Vicky for the amazing job she did on Wednesday.

Her knowledge and vocal clarity (even against the evening traffic around Commercial Street) was absolutely amazing.

All of the feedback from our colleagues was one of an enjoyable evening.

Our job as the social committee can be very difficult to meet the needs of all the staff but in this instance it was so easy and I do believe some of my colleagues have booked with their families with you later this year.

Again, thanks it really was marvellous !! and I hate being out in the cold !!

Kind regards

Allison and the ABS Social Committee

Hi

I attended the Jack the ripper tour tonight 3rd November 2010.

I was so please with the experience that I just had to come home and send you an email.

Our walking guide was fantastic. I didn't catch her name [Jenny Phillips] but her enthusiasm and knowledge made you hang onto every word and really feel what went on back in the rippers time.

I'm a resident of London and didn't know much of the Jack the Ripper story. I will now take notice and appreciate the history whenever in Brick Lane or on my way to Spitalfield Markets.

Your tour will be recommended to family and friends.

Thanks

Michelle and Friends

Hello,

I'm writing to thank you for the excellent Jack the Ripper Tour we did last night (03/11/09).

Our guide, Jenny, was great and knew so much! I was amazed she remembered it all too, as there was a lot of information.

I had thought of doing a walk for ages and on seeing your website, decided to organise an outing with 15 other work colleagues on this tour. I'm really glad we chose this walk as we all really enjoyed it!

I will be recommending you to friends and colleagues!

Many thanks,

Sarah and friends

We recently took the tour [Monday 28th September 2009] through Whitechapel and loved it.

We're both have a morbid curiosity with serial killers but are also notoriously difficult to please and we were kept enthralled from start to finish.

The tour guide, Jenny, was very well informed, occasionally witty and obviously enjoyed what she was doing.

Her conjecture on the subject added to the tour as a whole.

We even sneaked off for a quick beer, mid tour at the Ten Bells pub an old haunt of the prostitutes - as we were getting into it that much.

We would also recommend that you eat first as it took just over 2 hours and we were starving by the end of it.

£7 well spent, we loved it.

Hi there,

Last Wednesday [16th September 2009] a colleague and I joined a Jack the Ripper Walk together with our group of students.

Unfortunately I've forgotten the guide's name [Mark Ubsdell] but anyway I'd like to tell you that we had a very great evening.

The guide was absolutely committed to what he was telling us!

The students told us afterwards that they had found him really inspiring to listen to and they told us that he spoke so well that they had understood everything he said!

It really was a great night in the footsteps of the Ripper!

Many kind regards

Mrs. Vibeke Andersen,
Sct. Mariae Skole/School, Denmark

On 20th September 2009 our guide [Jenny Philips] was exceptional!

She did a great job describing the setting and bringing along actually photographs.

I will definitely be recommending your tour.

Regards,

Samantha Mortensen

Hi

We have just been on the tour [17th September 2009] and wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed it.

Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and took good care of us.

Really good value for money. However it would have been an asset to receive a set of the handouts to take away.

I realise this has a cost implication but I would happily have paid around 15pounds each if these were included. Nevertheless an excellent tour.

Many thanks

Nicholas Allen

Ps if you do decide to produce take away hand outs I would love a copy!!

Hi

I would just like to pass on my thanks to your Tour Guide for the magnificent tour she conducted on Tuesday 18th August.

My wife is a 'Ripper enthusiast' and has always wanted to go on a 'Ripper Tour' and it was a rather strange birthday request, and she hasn't stopped talking about since!!

Once again, many thanks for making my wife's birthday so special!!

Kind regards

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know how much my partner and I enjoyed our Jack the Ripper tour last Thursday 6 August 2009.

The weather was absolutely atrocious, it rained stair rods but to us it just added to the atmosphere.

Philip, our guide, was brilliant! Just the right balance of drama and humour, he made the whole experience very enjoyable and atmospheric.

The tour was well organised and very informative, we have read and watched lots about the Ripper over the years but learned much more last week - and the experience of being there was better than we had hoped.

Even though there were several other groups touring we felt as if we were the only ones there and we got all the best spots anyway, thanks Philip! Hope you dried out ok.

We are going to re read our Jack the Ripper book (and buy Philip's) as now we have visited the sites it feels more real.

Many thanks to all involved in the tour, long may you continue.

Please feel free to reproduce any part of this email, we heartily recommend anyone considering booking this tour to DO IT!!!

Regards

Julie Townend

I would just like to pass on my thoughts about the above tour. I have to say it was fantastic to have a real expert guiding us around.

The guide's knowledge on the subject was 2nd to none and also the way she put the story across was superb, myself am my son had a fabulous nite out and would definitely recommend the tour to any one thinking of learning a bit more about the jack the ripper legend

A. Ball

We would like to thank Clarissa for a wonderful and informative tour about Jack the Ripper on Saturday 25th July 2009.

Very well done and thought out and very informative.

Kind regards

Mr and Mrs Finnegan

Hi Joanne

I just wanted to thank you for sorting this all out for us and for the quiz as well. I really appreciate it.

We all had a great time both on the tour and with the quiz. I also wanted to say that John is a fantastic tour guide and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

I will certainly recommend him/your company to my work colleagues and friends.

Hi

Just wanted to send a brief note to say how much my girlfriend and I enjoyed our Jack The Ripper tour last Friday [5th June 2009].

I didn't catch the guides name [Jenny Philips] but we found her to be very very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting despite the damp and cold evening !!

We would/already have recommended you to our friends

Neal and Jo

Hi

Would you please pass on our thanks to Fiona Atherton and John Bennett who we had the pleasure of meeting on our Jack the Ripper Coursework Tour on Wednesday 3rd June 2009.

We have completed this walk on a number of occasions in the past with a different company and this was much better than any of them.

This walk exceeded all our expectations after the previous visits [with a different company] when we have been left disappointed.

The relevance to the coursework was excellent and the talk was very informative and interesting. The students were all very motivated and enthusiastic on our journey home and we are looking forward to using their new found knowledge in our Jack the Ripper work.

Thank you again and looking forward to our next tour.

Hello,

We've just got back to our hotel after our Jack the Ripper tour [Monday 25th May 2009] and we wanted to say thank you so much for a really brilliant time tonight!

Thank you to the company and especially to our tour guide John Bennett, who was amazing.

People are always quick to complain about things, but don't often take the time to say thank you when things go well.

We loved the tour and will definitely be recommending you!!

Many thanks again,

Joanna and Matt Winchcombe

Hello,

My husband, my mother and I attended the Jack-the-Ripper tour on Saturday evening [23rd May 2009].

I would just like to take this opportunity to say how delighted we were with the tour and the tour guide.

We weren't expecting such attention to detail and personal responses. Our tour guide (I cannot remember her name, but she is a lady with short blonde hair and pollen allergies!) [Jenny Phillips] was the best we've had on this type of tour.

Not only did she do an excellent job on the tour, but she also made sure we got into the station and that the trains were operating afterwards.

Thank you very much for a fabulous evening. We are definitely going to book another tour later this year.

Elisabeth Clough

I was on the May 12th Jack the Ripper Tour with Richard Jones and I have to tell you that it was the highlight of my trip to the British Isles.

Not only was Richard incredibly informed about the Ripper, but the insight that I got into what London's East End was like in the 1880's was amazing.

As soon as I got home I got a copy of the People of the Abyss by Jack London and after having been on Richard's tour, I found this very interesting.

I will recommend this tour to any and all friends going to London.

Hi,

Just had to write and tell everybody what a brilliant tour we had on the evening of Wednesday 22nd April 2009.

Apologies if I've got the tour guides name wrong, think he said his name was John [John Bennett], 40ish, slim bloke. Absolutely fantastic, funny, knowledgeable, scary, brilliant.

Worth every penny.

After booking the tour, I couldn't wait to go on it and it was even better than expected!

Recommend it to every one out there who is considering booking.

The group was small, unlike some of the other groups we saw.

The photos the guide passed round for us to see where fantastic.

Thanks once again for a fab night!!

We even went to the Ten Bells after the tour and had a drink!

Jill and Eddie Clayton,
Wigan.

P.S. Nearly 1 week since we went on it and I still can't stop talking about it!!

Hi

I have seen all the excellent comments on the web site, and want to add one more!

Me and my partner Steve took one of the tours on Sunday 19th April 2009 with Philip Hutchinson as our guide.

Never been on one before, but this must be the best going. It was absolutely fantastic, interesting talks from Philip, and we liked it when he showed the photos so we knew what it looked like before. He was very funny, knowledgeable and polite. A great chap.

We hope to take another tour in the autumn when its darker to see the area in a different light.

We hope to see Philip again soon.

Kindest regards and many thanks

Sarah Barret

Hallo

I just wanted to thank Philip for his fantastic tour last night [15th April 2009]. He was very entertaining and knowledgeable and the time just flew by.

I will definitely be joining the tour again and will be recommending to my friends!

I am just writing to say a huge thank you for the extremely enjoyable evening on Saturday 4th April 2009.

I had organised for a group of us to come up to London to participate on one of your walks and was not at all disappointed.

We all thought that Mark, our guide, was very knowledgeable, informative and entertaining. I certainly learnt a whole lot.

Having seen various other groups of 50+ people, we were definitely on the right tour!

I know that you also offer other tours and am now in the process of organising another trip with you.

Many thanks once again.

Jan Blair

Just a quick email to say a very big "Thank you" for an excellent tour last evening [30th March 2009].

We all thoroughly enjoyed it and found your knowledge on the subject mesmerising.

We all said how we were kept "enthralled" for all of the journey.

You were an excellent speaker and a very pleasant person.

Thank you once again.

Hi Richard,

Just wanted to say what a brilliant time my friends and I had on Friday night [27th March 2009].

The tour guide [Mark Ubsdell] was very good and the walk itself very atmospheric and with just the right amount of people.

We're hooked!!

Regards,

Janet Brigden

P.S. Just finished reading 'Walking Haunted London' - fantastically written.

Hi Joanne

Hope you're well.

I just wanted to let you know that last night [26th March 2009] was fantastic, everyone really enjoyed it, and I thought Jenny Phillips was great, please do pass on our thanks.

She was really enthusiastic, interesting and great to listen to.

Kind regards

Joanne

First off might I thank you so very much for transferring our booking at such short notice, we never expected that and your understanding and willingness to help was much appreciated.

We went on the tour last night [19th March 2009] and our guide was Phillip. I have to say he was terrific. He really grabbed our attention and made the streets come alive.

To say he exceeded our expectations would be understatement.

It was also nice to be part of a small group (especially when we passed those enormous groups where the message was found on the wall I could see the people at the back looking at us with envy!) we really felt part of a far more professional tour and the photographs really did help bring back what the area was like in Jack's day.

I have raved about you to my work colleagues and you will be getting a few of them on your tour.

All Good Wishes

Jenny Maclagen.

Hello

I just wanted to say what a fantastic (and scary) tour my sister and I had on Friday night [27th February 2009].

Our guide was Annette [Tate] and she really brought the whole story of The Ripper to life, both in words and pictures.

Having been born and bred in London, it wasn't until we moved to the West Country and came back for a weekend visit that we decided to do the tour and it was well worth the wait!

I have already recommended it to friends as a 'must do'.

Brilliant.

Mandi Millward-Large

Good Morning

Went on the Jack the Ripper tour last night [7th December 2005] and thoroughly enjoyed it, had a fantastic evening - will now insist that all my friends do it!.

Thank you

Helen

Dear sirs

I went on the ripper tour on 20/10/05. I would just like to say how impressed i was with the knowledge of jack the ripper our tour guide had, he said he had been doing the job for 23years, i hope he continues to do this job, as i intend to go on the walk again as he provided so much info i am sure i must have missed some of it.

His name was Richard Jones, He was informative, friendly and willing to answer all types of questions.

I enjoyed the walk very much and would like to thank him for the tour.

Kind Regards

Yvonne Dale

I would just like to thank you for a brilliant walk and a really excellent guide on Saturday night[21st February 2009]for the Jack The Ripper walk.

Our guide, Philip Hutchinson, was incredibly informative and interactive with us and I really enjoyed it, despite the underground trying to make it as difficult as possible to attend!

I just wish he had had more books to sell at the end of the talk, something we would all liked to have had.

Please pass my thanks on to him he was great!!

I would be very interested in knowing if you do other London walks, as I especially liked the fact that our group was not enormous and therefore I could hear and interact better which I think with a large group would not have been so successful an evening.

Many thanks

Philippa Johnston

Dear Richard,

Having arranged the Tour for my friends yesterday [7th February 2009] I must say that we all had a great time.

You are a great speaker/entertainer

Thank You!

As discussed 3 of the party of 12 were too ill to attend. I am grateful for your offer to refund the cost of 3 tickets.

Regards

Stephen Holt

Richard,

Just a quick message to thank you again for providing the students and I with such a brilliant day yesterday.

After you'd left Liz Meagher (the head of secondary) said that you had a "voice I could listen to all day"; I had a chance to talk with several of the students and they were genuinely enthused by the whole experience of meeting you and hearing your ideas.

The fact that you were able to hold their attention for a solid hour first thing in the morning especially is pretty incredible!

Anyway, I just wanted to say properly how much I appreciate the fact that you took so much effort and time to share your expertise with us all - the day itself was predictably hectic and we could easily have justified taking the students off timetable for another couple of hours.

If there's anything I can do in return for you in terms of advertising your materials / writing a testimonial or so on, please don't hesitate to ask.

And if you would be willing to consider visiting us again next year I'd be absolutely delighted to welcome you back (I could even change the shape of the years' studies so that the Ripper unit takes place when it's a little warmer!).

Many thanks again,

Russell Tarr
The International School. Toulouse.

Hello all.

I would just like to say a BIG thank you for the walk you put on for my Mum's birthday on Saturday 31st January 2009.

Mark made the streets come to life and it didn't seem to last more than 30 minutes!!

I will be giving you a double thumbs up on your website shortly and already people that were on the walk have passed on your details to others.

Thanks once again for a most enjoyable evening and all the best for the future.

Regards

Hello Joanne,

Just like to say thanks for the tours [23rd and 24th January 2009] whilst we were in London.

The guides [Philip Hutchinson and Kathy Trevelyan] were very knowledgeable and pitched the talks at the right level for our students.

The balance between information and entertainment was just right. The tours were very informative, safe and enjoyable.

In addition, your company was a pleasure to deal with and we will use you next year when we will visit London again.

Please pass on our thanks to the guides and feel free to use our name in any of your publicity.

Thanks for everything.

Richard / Joanne.

I just wanted to drop you a line to say a huge thanks for Friday night [14th November 2008].

The 4 guides [Heather Davies, Karen Sharpe, Fiona Attrell and Mark Ubsdell] we had were the best ever and the service and professionalism of Heather was superb.

Thanks again, look forward to doing it again in 12 months.

Yours sincerely

Dear Richard

Just wanted to say what a great night you gave us last night [9th November 1888].

I was particularly impressed by the way you were able to field the questions about Thomas Cutbush and why he wasn't Jack the Ripper.

I had booked the tour because it was an anniversary night and it was quite moving to be standing so close to the site of Mary Kelly's Murder.

As a student of the ripper killings myself I was so pleased that you dismissed as utter rubbish the Freemason theories and the Masonic involvement in the ripper killings.

I must say it does anger me when I hear this silly theory presented over and over again as actual fact.

Well done for pointing out that different police officers reported different spellings for the graffito in Goulston Street.

Your tour was very well balanced and your grasp of the history of the area was second to none.

So despite the wet start to our night, we had a great time in your company so thanks for being so erudite and enthusiastic.

On another note, your new book arrived today from amazon. I have to say it is a great production, very well put together and written and the pull out documents are a brilliant idea.

Could you let me know when you are next doing a tour so I can get you to sign it for me?

Sincerely.

Scott Bewick.

Could you say a big thank you to our guide on last nights Jack the Ripper Tour on 29th October 2008.

It was nice that we were not only told the Jack the Ripper story but that we also got to hear about all the new research being done into these murders.

Best Wishes

Dan

Just a short e mail to say how fascinated I was on this tour [18th October 2008] absolutely brilliant.

I do conduct ghost walks my self and have to say this tour is pure magic.

Best wishes

Hi Joanne

Many thanks for an excellent evening last Friday [17th October 2008].

I've had great feedback and your guides [Fiona Attrell and Mark Ubsdell] were top notch, creating atmosphere and really giving us a feel for life at that time.

Please forward our grateful thanks on to them.

Thanks again for giving us a great evening

Hi Richard

What a great evening last Wednesday [28th September 2005]

Despite the wind and rain, which may have ' Dampened the Spirits', I thoroughly enjoyed the walk, as did the rest of my party.

We were very impressed not only by your knowledge, but also by your enthusiasm.

Many thanks for a wonderful time.

Kind Regards

Nick Nicholson and family.

Brilliant tour.

It was my first visit to London ever...Myself and my fiance took in the delights of:

Lord's

The Oval

Dungeons

Tower Bridge

West End

Woman in white and we will rock you.

Buckingham Palace

Big Ben

Downing Street...etc, etc

But my best moments had to be the tour..... [taken on 29th September 2005]I was certainly a believer of Sir William Gull being the ripper but after the tour....no way could it have been him...It had to be a local

Once again brilliant

Peter Norbury

My friend and I wanted to write and let you know how excellent we think the tour with Richard was last night [8th September 2005].

We also had gotten lost on the way to the tour, and your company was very professional in helping get us the correct place, as well as Richard calling us himself.

It was a brilliant time, with fantastic stories and was one of the more interesting things I did while in London.

Thank you.

Please feel free to use my comments as a recommendation.

Mary Henwood

I went on one of your jack the ripper tours tonight and was very pleased with it.

Unfortunately I missed the first 5 mins as the tube was running late!!

I have to say that the tour guide [Jenny Philips] was very informative and very good but I sadly did not get the guides name.

The tour was at 7pm friday 19th.

Thank you again for a great, informative night.

Sharon

Dear Mr Jones,

I wanted to write a quick note to express my thoughts about the Jack the Ripper Tour my brother and I went on with Jenny Phillips on Friday night (August 12th).

I was very pleased with the tour- I thought Ms Phillips was both knowledgeable and professional and created a very memorable experience for our group.

A gritty, gruesome and unsettling introduction to the great city of London!

Please pass on my thanks to Ms Phillips.

Yours faithfully,

M. van der Ploeg

JUST RETURNED TO NEW YORK, AND WANT TO SAY THE TOUR [ON 1ST JULY 2005] WAS VERY ENJOYABLE AND I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND LOTS OF FUN.

YOUR TOUR GUIDE [Jenny Phillips] WAS TERRIFIC AND INSIGHTFUL .

THANKS AGAIN

DON ARANGIO

Thanks for a brilliant night last night, I wasn't sure what to expect as I had heard stories about people going on walks that were disappointing but this interesting from the start and when we were in that alley and the tour guide [Lindsay Siviter] shouted "MURDER, MURDER" it not only sent a shiver down my spine but I'm sure the rest of the party. great night, can't wait for the next one!!

Rob Deutsche Bank.

I just wanted to say that the tour I had on Friday at 9pm was really excellent.

It really exceeded my expectations... I was expecting to just be told a lot of facts and theories on what had happened it was so interesting to also be told of how some of the information was found out and also how new some of it was was quite fascinating.

It was really fantastic to have someone telling us about it who had such a passion for the subject and who is researching so much into it themselves.

I would definitely recommend it to anyone!"

Jon Edwards

Hello,

I would like to thank you very much indeed for an excellant [sic] evening on the Jack the Ripper tour last night 07/04 [with Jenny Phillips].

Myself and my party thouroughly [sic] enjoyed it, even though the weather wasn't up to much, we all said later that it just added to the atmosphere.

Thankyou again.

Matt Leach.
