Richard Jones, the founder of Discovery Tours and Events Ltd, has been in the walking tours business since 1982, much longer than the majority of other London Walks guides. His tours have received  many complimentary reviews in newspapers and magazines throughout the world, whilst his track record for devising informative and imaginative tours, literally, speaks for itself. He is an international best-selling author whose books Memorable Walks in London;  Walking Haunted London; Haunted Britain and Ireland; Walking Dickensian London; Haunted London; Myths and Legends of Britain and Ireland; and Haunted Inns of Britain and Ireland are available all over the world, and a quick Amazon search for these titles will provide you with further information on Richard's prolific writing output. His book Uncovering Jack the Ripper's London will be published in June 2007.

A NAME THAT YOU CAN TRUST

Richard Jones has made frequent appearances on BBC 1's Breakfast News, ITV's This Morning and London Tonight, as well as on Channel Five's Divine Designs, for which he told the story of the Jack the Ripper murders. He has been seen internationally on the Discovery, History, Travel and Mystery Channels, both as an interviewee and presenter, on programme's about Jack the Ripper, and was featured on the DVD that accompanied the Johnny Depp Film From Hell, for which he provided an opinion on Jack the Ripper's identity, and an insight into the cultural significance of the Whitechapel murders. In July 2006 he appeared on ITV News as a contributor when the Metropolitan Police called a press conference to name the likeliest suspect for the mantle of Jack the Ripper. Since this was a suspect that Richard has been championing for over 20 years he was able to provide and analysis of this latest. At present Richard is working on a major television programme which is due to broadcast on a major UK network at the end of April 2007.

The recent drama-documentary Unmasking Jack the Ripper, on which he was  both writer and presenter, (and which features interviews and contributions from the acclaimed freelance guides with whom he conducts the Jack the Ripper Walk) was released in May 2005 to universal acclaim, and was hailed by Ripperologist magazine as:-

"Perhaps the best...[Jack the Ripper] documentary to have been produced in recent years..."

Ripper Notes America's leading journal on Jack the Ripper studies had this to say about Richard's DVD:-

"... Richard Jones has been conducting walking tours and amassing a terrific knowledge of the East End's history in general and the Jack the Ripper crimes in particular....As not only the writer and director of the film but also its host and narrator, the success of Unmasking rests solely on Jones' ability to convey this knowledge. Thankfully, he does so with exceptional skill, and the result is a fluid narration that is appropriately dramatic, even chilling at times, without stepping over the line into Cheeseville... You can now count one more voice among the ever growing chorus calling Unmasking Jack the Ripper one of the best, if not the best, Ripper documentaries in years..."

Joan Rivers and the rock group Green Day are just a few of the celebrities who have joined Richard on his Jack the Ripper Walking Tour and Ghost Walks.

RICHARD'S JACK THE RIPPER WALKING TOUR

Until May 2005 Richard and his dedicated team of freelance guides, only offered their Jack the Ripper Walking Tours to pre-booked groups of 15 or more people. This, unfortunately, meant that individuals, families and couples, that might not be able to get a group of 15 together were unable to join the walk.

Many people were hearing about how good the tour was from their friends and family, who had done the walk with their company social clubs. These people were extremely disappointed to learn that they couldn't join what they had heard was the best Jack the Ripper Walking Tour in London unless they had a group of 15 plus.

So, in May 2005, Richard and his team of expert freelance guides introduced a regular guided Jack the Ripper Walking Tour. This tour has proved highly popular and has sold out on virtually every night it has been conducted.

But, unlike other London Walks, these expert guides didn't want their Jack the Ripper Walking Tours to have as many as 300 people on them. So it was decided to introduce a booking system in conjunction with PAYPAL, the most trusted name in online security for credit card transactions. In this way bookings could be monitored so that the tour could be closed once it had reached a specific number of people.
