Our Jack The Ripper Black Cab Tour

Our Jack the Ripper nightly walking tour has been going now since 1982 – that’s forty years this year! Since then we have introduced thousands of people to the streets of Whitechapel and Spitalfields.

A few years ago, we introduced a chauffeur driven tour around the various places associated with the Whitechapel murders.

But now we’ve got something even better:-

A BLACK CAB JACK THE RIPPER TOUR

This unique tour is a joint project between Richard Jones, founder of our walking tour, and black cab driver Danny McIntyre.

Danny does the driving, and Richard does the guiding, with plenty of banter between them as you go!

YOU CHOOSE WHERE TO START

The tour can begin at a location of your choice in central London.

You will be met by Danny and Richard who will usher you to Danny’s Traditional London Electric taxi – which can comfortably seat 4 passengers.

It is an air conditioned vehicle with a clear glass roof for a fantastic 360 degree view of London. There are also USB ports available to keep your phones and electrical items fully charged throughout the tour so you can take photographs and films of the locations you will be visiting.

SETTING THE SCENE

As you are driven to the East End of London, Richard will set the scene by providing you with a little background on the area you are heading into – the East End of London.

You will hear how the social conditions in the district had received so much negative publicity in the newspapers that people were almost expecting something terrible, something beyond evil, to come out of the East End.

THE WHITECHAPEL MURDERS BEGIN

By this time, Danny will have driven us to the East End of London where we will begin the story alongside the site of the “White Chapel” – St Mary’s church – which gave its name to the enclave that grew up around it in the Middle Ages.

It was also here that Emma Elizabeth Smith, the first Whitechapel murders victim noticed a group of men following her. We follow her journey to the point at which she was attacked by them, sustaining injuries from which she later died.

MURDER SITES IN ORDER

From that point on we are able to follow the trail of the murders as they unfolded in 1888.

Every so often, we will leave the cab to walk to places, such as the mortuary to which several of the victims bodies were taken in the aftermath of their murders.

A TOUR WORTH INVESTIGATING

Just as out nightly on foot guided tour is a walk worth investigating®, so our Jack the Ripper Black Cab tour is a tour that is well worth investigating.

So, if you are looking for an in depth exploration of the full story of the Jack the Ripper murders, get in touch and let Richard and Danny take you on a memorable journey that will explore all aspects of the autumn of terror.

Th tour takes between three and four hours and costs £350.00.
