Regular Videos On Our YouTube Channel

It has always been the attention of the Jack the Ripper tour to bring you as much information as we can on the Whitechapel murders and the Victorian history that surrounds them

OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL

To that end, we have been adding regular videos to our YouTube Channel, each one of which covers a different aspect of the case.

Obviously, with a subject such as the Jack the Ripper murders, there is bound to be a certain amount of crossover in the various videos, but, on the whole, this is kept to a minimum.

IT GREW OUT OF OUR BLOGS

Since 2012, Richard Jones has been writing a regular blog on this website, which features stories from the period – some of them Jack the Ripper related, some of them featuring other Victorian subjects, such as the Carbolic Smoke Ball case.

These blogs utilize the newspapers of the age to bring you the information about the case and the era in a sort of rolling news format that really does bring the case to life.

These articles made perfect storyboards for video presentations, so, as the potential offered by YouTube became apparent, we decided to turn these blogs into videos.

THE CASE IS VAST

It has always been our wish to see the YouTube Channel as a set of book chapters which, video by video, helps build a detailed resource that enables people to read about, learn about and witness the case as it unfolded.

But, it should also be remembered that the murders didn’t happen in a vacuum.

Life in Victorian Britain was still going on around the murders themselves, so our videos help bring that life to life – if you get my drift!

LEARN FROM EXPERTS

We also like to engage with experts on the various aspects of the case, and our videos, whenever possible and when it makes sense, feature interviews with those whose expertise in the subject matter is unrivaled.

A good example of this was our video on Dr, Francis Tumblety with Mike Hawley – the go-to guy when it comes to this intriguing suspect.

THE TUMBLETY VIDEO

Richard had already interviewed Mike for a blog that we published on Tumblety in 2016, and Mike was more than happy to share his latest findings when we approached him again in January 2022.

You can watch the Tumblety video below.

MORE VIDEOS ADDED REGULARLY

At present we have added almost 80 videos to the channel, and we plan to add many more this year.

So, be sure to check out our YouTube Channel, and to use all the resources that we have on our wesbite.
