Have You Voted Yet

Have you cast your vote for Jack the Ripper yet?

Since 2016, we have been operating an online poll for people to cast their vote as to which of the many suspects they think Jack the Ripper actually was.

We are pleased to have now received over 30,000 votes for suspects as diverse as William Bury and Mary Pearcey.

THE TOP THREE JACK THE RIPPER SUSPECTS

However, these two suspects are way down the list and are many votes behind our top three.

In third place, currently, we have Charles Cross. In second place is the American quack doctor, Francis Tumblety; and in first place is Aaron Kosminski.

CAST YOUR VOTE

If you haven’t yet cast your vote for your favoured suspect, then you can do so by clicking on the vote box below.

ALL VOTES COUNT

We count almost all the votes that are cast. I say “almost all”, because some people are so determined to get their own favoured suspect to the top of the poll that they vote for that suspect many times over.

Obviously, this type of voter fraud is unacceptable as it is not a genuine reflection of which of the hundreds of suspects people in general favour.

So, whenever we see evidence of this type of manipulation – and we do have ways of detecting it – we allow one vote to pass and we discount the remainder of the votes.

So please, save yourself (and us) the trouble of voting over and over again for a particular suspect and do the decent thing and just vote once!

WE UPDATE OUR RESULTS PAGE REGULARLY

We try to update our results page at least once a week – in fact, time permitting, we try to update the results several times a week, if not daily – so the poll is a pretty good litmus test as to which suspect people at large favour for the mantel of having been the Whitechapel murderer.

If you wish, you can see the results so far on our dedicated results page.

IF YOUR SUSPECT ISN’T SHOWN?

Of course, with an ever-expanding list of suspects, you might find that your particular suspect is not on our list, and you are, therefore, unable to vote for him or her.

If you have a viable suspect then please get in touch via our contact page, just give us the name of the suspect you wish to be added, and, providing they are a genuine and viable suspect, we will add them to the list.

Just to define viable, please don’t contact us with the name of your great, great grandad, or some other distant ancestor – unless, of course, you have concrete proof that they were Jack the Ripper!

SO CAST YOUR VOTE

And that is it. Voting is as simple as scrolling back up the page, clicking on the voting box, and then just casting your vote for the suspect you favour.
